DIAN KOUM KÖ: Launch of the Information Workshop in Goré and the Start of Field Preparation

Women Success has reached a new milestone in the implementation of the project DIAN KOUM KÖ: Empowered Women, Strong Communitiesfunded by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) through the “La Francophonie avec Elles” Fund.

Information Workshop: 100 Women Mobilized

One hundred women beneficiaries — including refugees, returnees, and members of host communities — from the Goré area participated in the project’s official information workshop. The objective of the session was to present in detail the planned activities, the support mechanisms available to participants (agricultural training, agricultural inputs, cash assistance, and a processing unit), as well as the commitments expected from beneficiaries throughout the project.

Beyond the information shared, it was the participants’ motivation that truly stood out during the workshop. Despite often difficult life experiences marked by forced displacement, insecurity, and uncertainty, these women came forward with determination: to seize this opportunity to build sustainable income-generating activities and improve the living conditions of their families. Their commitment forms the foundation upon which the project’s success depends.

50 Hectares Secured Thanks to UNHCR Support

Following the workshop, Women Success is pleased to announce the launch of the field preparation phase. Thanks to the valuable support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which facilitated negotiations with village chiefs in the Goré area, nearly 50 hectares of agricultural land have been made available to the project. This major breakthrough helps address a structural barrier frequently encountered in refugee women’s empowerment programs: access to land.

Beneficiaries will now begin clearing and preparing their plots in anticipation of the upcoming agricultural season.

Women Success warmly thanks both the OIF and UNHCR for their decisive support during this first phase of the project.

DIAN KOUM KÖ aims to support the economic empowerment of 200 vulnerable women over a period of 30 months in Goré and N’Djamena, through training, agricultural and entrepreneurial support, and long-term guidance.
